Hurricane Melissa brought devastation to the poverty stricken communities of Negril and Revival, Jamaica, where the Franciscan Friars serve those already in desperate need of food and medicine.

After ravaging Jamaica, Hurricane Melissa caused widespread flooding and destruction in Cuba, bringing more hardship to people already suffering country- wide power outages, food shortages, and a scarcity of medicine and household goods. The Franciscan Friars are in Havana at two parishes, providing those in need with food, basic needs, and spiritual accompaniment.

The uplifting presence and compassion of the Franciscan Friars in Jamaica and Cuba will be essential for years to come. Together, we can turn the challenges of storm recovery into opportunities for renewal and hope.
